Dr. Otiji completed her residency in Family Medicine at University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC), Baltimore, Maryland in June 2008. She graduated from Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta with doctorate degree in Medicine and masters degree in Public Health in May 2005. Her undergraduate program was completed at University of Maryland, College Park in 2000. Dr. Otiji had her primary and secondary school education in Anambra state, Nigeria before returning to the US in the mid 90s to continue her undergraduate program.
Her medical career training included clinical preceptorship at the World Health Organization’s Headquarters in Switzerland, hands-on care of patients with HIV/AIDS in South Africa and Nigeria as well as externship in Kingston, Jamaica and Havana, Cuba. Dr. Otiji’s interests include women’s health, infectious diseases and cosmetic medicine.
Dr. Otiji’s practice experience resolves mostly around ambulatory care in Urgent Care setting similar to the model at Omni Medical Center. She brings with her new knowledge, skills and zeal which will surely positively impact the quality of services provided at Omni under her leadership as the Medical Director. With a masters degree in Public Health and ample exposure to diverse healthcare models on the international scene, Dr. Otiji epitomizes the new face of Omni for this new millennium.
Dr. Nwosu was certified by the American Board of Surgery in December 1981. He completed his residency in general surgery at Howard University Hospital in June 1980. He did his undergraduate studies at Howard University and also graduated from the same institution’s College of Medicine in May 1975. Dr. was born in Nigeria where he had his primary and secondary school education before coming to the US to further his career in November 1970.
After his residency, Dr. Nwosu served for one year as a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Surgery, Howard University Hospital. He returned to his home country in late 1981 and established active medical practice amongst the rural population of Anambra state, Nigeria where he resided with his family for almost 14 years. This period exposed Dr. Nwosu to a broad spectrum of challenges in delivery of healthcare in Third-World setting where basic facilities are not readily available. This exposure also compelled him to broaden the scope of his practice far beyond surgery to encompass aspects of primary healthcare that have greatly impacted his professional inclinations in recent years. He played leadership roles in his hometown community and environs as well as in mainstream politics of his state during his extended residency at Igboukwu. He came back into the US in late 1995 with his family and resumed professional practice in the Washington, DC metro area.
Dr. Nwosu’s nonprofessional interests are broad as they are diverse. He is the founding President of World Igbo Environmental Foundation, Inc. (WIEF), an international nongovernmental organization that is dedicated to arresting the widespread environmental decay, degradation and pollution in rainforest region of Southeast Nigeria and oil-producing Niger Delta area. He is active in many professional and sociocultural organizations within the US and overseas. His hobbies are writing on a wide variety of issues, photography and jogging. Dr. Nwosu is married and has four children, one of whom is Omni’s new Medical Director, Dr. Adora Otiji.
